Half life of thymidine kinase (TK) in quiescent cells

Value 40 Min
Organism Mammalian tissue culture cell
Reference Sutterluety H, Bartl S, Karlseder J, Wintersberger E, Seiser C. Carboxy-terminal residues of mouse thymidine kinase are essential for rapid degradation in quiescent cells. J Mol Biol. 1996 Jun 14 259(3):383-92. p.388 right column bottom paragraphPubMed ID8676376
Method In order to investigate post-transcriptional steps researchers performed pulse-chase experiments to determine the protein stability of murine TK in resting and stimulated cells. Using the Myc epitope system they managed to measure for the first time TK protein turnover in G0 cells.
Comments Mouse Ltk- fibroblasts (ATCC CCL 1.3)
