P.421 left column bottom paragraph: "Nail growth rate was calculated by dividing the difference in recorded distance from the proximal nail fold by the number of days between the two measurements. Results were reported in mm per month, defined as 30 days. [Investigators] compared left and right fingernail and toenail growth rate to determine if there were statistical differences or if it was possible to pool left and right digits using paired t-tests. [They] compared mean fingernail and toenail growth rates using paired t-tests as well. [They] stratified nail growth rate by gender, age group and onychophagia to examine possible differences. Two-sided P ≤ 0.05 was considered significant. sas version 9.1.3 (SAS Institute Inc, Cary, NC, USA) was used in all analyses." |

Abstract: "Results: Average fingernail growth rate was faster than that of toenails (3.47 vs. 1.62 mm/month, P < 0.01)." P.422 left column top paragraph: "There was no significant difference between right and left fingernail growth rates (P = 0.57) or right and left toenail growth rates
(P = 0.22). Therefore, [investigators] present the pooled fingernail and toenail growth rates (Fig. 2). Average fingernail growth rate (3.47 mm⁄month) was over twice as fast that of toenails (1.62 mm⁄ month, P < 0.01)." P.422 right column 2nd paragraph:"In this survey of nail growth rate, [investigators] observed that average fingernail growth rate (3.47 mm⁄ month) was over twice as fast as that of toenails (1.62 mm⁄month)."
