Method The three-dimensional structure of the proteasome from the archaebacterium Thermoplasma acidophilum has been elucidated by x-ray crystallographic analysis by means of isomorphous replacement and cyclic averaging.
Comments The 20S proteasome from the archaea Thermoplasma acidophilum has been analysed by X-ray crystallography at 3.4 Å resolution. It has a cylindrical shape, with overall dimensions of 148 Å length and of 113 Å maximum and 75 Å minimum diameter, respectively. On each side of the central 20S barrel shaped subunit the proteasome has two capping 19S regulatory complexes. See BNID 103061
