P.239 left column 3rd paragraph: "After initial multiplication at the inoculation site, trypomastigotes enter the bloodstream and spread systemically. This acute phase is characterized by a high parasitemia with trypomastigote forms and is followed by invasion of the liver, gut, spleen, lymphatic ganglia, central
nervous system and skeletal and cardiac muscles. On these tissues, the parasite transforms into an amastigote, a rounded form that lacks a flagellum
and measures ~3 µm in diameter." |
