P.105 left column bottom paragraph: "Norwalk-like viruses (NLVs or noroviruses) are the most common foodborne pathogens, causing an estimated 23 million cases of nonbacterial acute gastroenteritis each year [ref 1]. Often called "stomach flu"-a misnomer since a norovirus is not an influenza virus-NLVs are spread primarily from person to person along the fecal-oral route by contact with contaminated hands, food, water, or objects in the environment [ref 2]. In some cases, aerosolized vomitus has been implicated in transmission. The incubation period is 12 to 48 hours: infection with NLVs causes more vomiting than diarrhea and usually resolves within 48 hours [ref 2]." |
