For example, metabolic heat elevates the body temperature of clustering caterpillars, dramatically affecting their developmental rates. Caterpillars (Vanessa urtica) that are allowed to aggregate pupate 67 h sooner than isolated siblings because of increased developmental temperature (primary source)." |
