Comments | P.1580 right column 2nd paragraph: "Measurement of the extent of residual cell division following inhibition of protein synthesis allows an estimate to be made of the time in the cycle at which all protein synthesis required for division has been completed. In this way Kubitschek (primary source) showed that the duration of the protein synthesis-independent phase of cell division is constant and independent of the growth rate. His estimates for the interval between completion of required protein synthesis and division (which was referred to as D by Kubitschek but which [investigators] shall denote P because D is defined differently by Cooper and Helmstetter [ref 15, see above]) are shown in table 1." |
