For sugar and PPi determination, 2.5 and 20 g, respectively,
of lyophilized powder was extracted with boiling 80% (v/v)
aqueous methanol during 1 h. |

The highest calculated PPi concentration in Bintje tubers was
16.8µM. This amount is nowhere near the concentration
needed for inhibition of PFP but quite close to reported Km
values (refs 25, 27). |
