Method	To determine whether the ploidy level of M. acetivorans is influenced by the substrate and thus the growth rate (directly or indirectly), cells growing slowly on acetate were also analyzed. To this end, five independent cultures were grown on acetate as the sole energy source, with a doubling time of 49 h in the exponential phase.
