The average separation of molecules (center to center) is 6.9 nm [for calculation see measurement method of BNID 110542]. The diameter of a single hemoglobin molecule is about 5 nm. These molecules are very concentrated, near the highest physiological concentration of any protein (the crystallins in lens cells can be at >50% protein by weight)." |
