P.468 3rd paragraph: "If one assumes that every nerve impulse liberates NE [Norepinephrine] from all the terminal varicosities of a given fiber, the mean release per varicosity (about 400 molecules) is only about 2.5 % of the estimated content per vesicle (primary source). Can vesicles release just a small fraction of their NE content? Perhaps the vesicles from which the release takes place contain untypically small amounts of NE." |
