Range 1 to 3 kBT/nm^2

Method Researchers measure the mean number of MscL channels per cell under various culturing conditions using quantitative Western blots and single-molecule calibrated fluorescence microscopy.
Comments It is commonly noted that the value of t1/2 (the tension where Popen= 0.5), determined from electrophysiological measurements, is very close to the tension when a typical membrane ruptures in the range between 1 and 3 kBT/nm2.
