Urea permeability during self-exchange and net efflux in red cells (25˚C pH 7.2)

Range ~2.6e-4 Table - link cm/sec
Organism Human Homo sapiens
Reference Brahm J. Urea permeability of human red cells. J Gen Physiol. 1983 Jul82(1):1-23. p.12 table IIIPubMed ID6411854
Method "The rate of unidirectional [14C]urea efflux from human red cells was determined in the self-exchange and net efflux modes with the continuous flow tube method."
Comments "Table III shows the results of net efflux and self-exchange experiments at 25°C and pH 7.2. During both, the same permeability coefficient of ~2.6X10^-4cm/sec was found at a urea concentration of 1 mM." See note beneath table
