Comments P.226 left column bottom paragraph: "The model was initially parameterized using values obtained from the literature (Table 1). Wherever possible, parameter values for P. tricornutum or other diatoms were used, but in some cases this was not possible. The model implemented with these literature value parameters was termed the “base” model. Upon comparing the “base” model to data, some discrepancies were noted and parameters were varied to obtain two refined model implementations: (1) “base+P,” in which Ci [inorganic carbon]-saturated photosynthetic rates were increased to values close to observed rates by modifying pyrenoid and RubisCO parameters, and (2) “base+P+CO2,” in which several additional parameters were modified to increase CO2 uptake rates (Table 1)."
