Abstract: "The enzyme was generated from isolated proteins. It exhibited spontaneous decay-dissociation into its subunits with a half-life of 7 h at 37˚C." P.8294 right column bottom paragraph: "The CVF [cobra venom factor]-dependent C3 convertase shows a spontaneous decay-dissociation into its subunits CVF and Bb [physiological cleavage fragment of Factor B]. The decay was quantitated in order to determine whether it could influence the outcome of kinetic experiments. At 37˚C and physiological pH and ionic strength, the decrease of enzyme activity was first order with a half-life of approximately 7 h (Fig. 3), which corresponds to a decay rate constant of 2.75×10^-5sec^-1." |
