P.98 top paragraph: "In the colon the bacterial counts increase dramatically to numbers of 10^10-10^12 CFU/g. Anaerobic bacteria, such as Bacteroides and Bifidobacterium, are the predominant species found in this region and the anaerobic bacteria outnumber the aerobic bacteria by a factor of 1000:1 (Nord and Kager 1984). One third of the faecal dry weight consists of bacteria. The composition of the gastrointestinal flora is presented in Table 6.1." |
