P.1965 left column: "In unstimulated PMN, a high percentage of the total actin (60-70% or ~200µM, assuming a uniform distribution) is in an unpolymerized state. After chemoattractant stimulation there is rapid filament assembly, F-actin content reaching a maximum (60-70% of total actin, 200µM) and G-actin content reaching a nadir (30-40 % of total actin, 100µM) within 30-60 s. These observations indicate that the high concentrations of unpolymerized actin in resting PMNs are capable of being incorporated into filaments following stimulation." |
