Abstract: "Here [investigators] describe Synechococcus elongatus UTEX 2973, a unicellular cyanobacterium capable of rapid autotrophic growth, comparable to heterotrophic industrial hosts such as yeast." |
Comments |
P.2 right column 2nd paragraph: "Genomic and Proteomic analysis of Synechococcus UTEX 2973: The original Anacystis nidulans strain [ref 18] was also deposited to the Pasteur Culture Collection as Synechococcus sp. PCC 6301. Whole genome sequencing of Synechococcus UTEX 2973 indicated that this strain is similar to Synechococcus PCC 6301 in terms of the general features of their genomes (Table 2). Unexpectedly, the genome sequence of Synechococcus UTEX 2973 exhibited remarkable similarity to that of the widely studied model cyanobacterium Synechococcus PCC 7942, an organism that has apparently been isolated from a distant geographical location." |
