shaped and long filamentous forms (Fig. 1). This morphology is unusual for viruses and,
thus, became characteristic for the family. Virions vary greatly in length but show a
uniform diameter of ~80 nm. Family members differ in length of virion particles, but
seem to be very similar in morphology. Peak infectivity has been associated with particles
of 665 nm for Lake Victoria marburgvirus (MARV)
and 805 nm for ebolaviruses." |
