The annotated genome sequences were downloaded from GenBank for all species except Thermotoga maritima, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Caenorhabditis elegans, which were downloaded from link link and link respectively. |

The mean protein lengths (MPLs) for the five
archaeal species are between 237 and 282 amino acids,
with an average of 270±9. This number becomes 330±5
for 15 bacteria and 449±25 for two eukaryotes (see keywords section for names of organisms). |
