Comments | The known viruses have been grouped to >1,950 species (probably 30,000 to 40,000 total virus isolate) 3 orders, 73 families, 9 subfamilies, 287 genera, subviral agents (satellites, viroids and prions) and unclassified viruses. These numbers are certainly underestimates as new viruses are discovered regularly. |
