Reference |
G. C. Cannon and J. M. Shively Characterization of a homogenous preparation of carboxysomes from Thiobacillus neapolitanus, Arch. Microbiol.1983.
134(1): 52–59 p. 56 right column and table 2 (bands 5-8 and 12 identified as large and small subunits of RubisCO) |
Method |
Dissociation of purified
carboxysomes with SDS in the presence of ß-mercaptoethanol
and subsequent electrophoresis on SDS polyacrylamide
gels polymerized from 15%w/v acrylamide |
Comments |
As much as 80 % of the ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase-
oxygenase (RubisCO 3-phospho-D-glycerate carboxylase
[dimerizing], EC 4.1.1.39) activity of Thiobacillus
neapolitanus can be found within polyhedral inclusion bodies
called carboxysomes (Shively et al., 1973 PMID 4355679 Beudeker et al., 1980 Arch Microbiol 124: 185-189). See BNID 101680 |
