Method Electron microscopy
Comments "Electron microscopy performed on fixed fibroblasts, however, has shown that the lamellipodium is 110–160 nm thick (primary source) and that it contains a very high concentration of actin filaments that are largely oriented 1) parallel to the direction of protrusion and 2) with their barbed ends abutting the lamellipodium margin (Small, 1981)."
