Percentage of proteins with photosynthetic functions out of all synthesized proteins on a molar basis

Value 30 %
Organism Thale cress Arabidopsis thaliana
Reference Piques et al., Ribosome and transcript copy numbers, polysome occupancy and enzyme dynamics in Arabidopsis. Mol Syst Biol. 2009 5: 314 p.6 right column 2nd paragraphPubMed ID19888209
Method The rate of synthesis of the proteins encoded by these 98 transcripts was estimated from the transcript abundance in the SPS (small polysomal fraction) and LPS (large polysomal fraction) fractions, multiplied by the ribosome density per translating transcript
Comments On a molar basis, proteins with photosynthetic functions contributed 30% of all identified proteins. Protein synthesis made up the second largest functional protein group (11%). Proteins with functions in amino acid metabolism, redox regulation and TCA cycle/organic acid transformation contributed with 5–6% each.
