Ratio of PSSG/PSH in steady state in cytosol

Value 1.5E-05 Unitless
Organism Human Homo sapiens
Reference Hansen RE, Roth D, Winther JR. Quantifying the global cellular thiol-disulfide status. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2009 Jan 13 106(2):422-7.PubMed ID19122143
Method The equilibrium constant, K, of the reaction PSH+GSSG>><<PSSG+GSH is typically close to 1 (ref 21, 22) and in combination with the reducing environment of the cytosol, steady-state levels of PSSG is expected to be extremely low with a ratio of PSSG/PSH of 1.5 × 10-5.
Comments This implies that the vast majority of PSSG should be found in secretory compartments.
