Method Microscopic and TEM (transmission electron micrographs) observations. Recalculation of “true” cell diameters and cell wall thickness was done using equations, written by Dr. Zhibing Zhang (School of Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham, UK).
Comments The corrected cell wall thickness obtained from various fermentation conditions in this study was approximately 70±15nm, which is consistent with that reported by Brady et al. (5).
