Comments P.61 right column 5th paragraph: "Summary of pool size. In the four non-ribbon synapses, the extensive range of vesicle pool sizes can be unified by normalizing to the total length of active zone material [ref 84]. The total number of synaptic vesicles per active zone in the Drosophila NMJ is 87,000 vesicles, which, divided between 400 active zones [ref 31], is equal to 217 vesicles per active zone in a hippocampal bouton there are 200 vesicles per active zone [ref 38] and in the calyx of Held terminal there are 200,000 vesicles for 600 active zones [refs 50, 85], giving an average of 333 per active zone."
