Method From the relative proportions mentioned above (obtained by TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy)), the data from Winter et al. (1993, DOI: 10.1007/BF00199748, 1994, DOI: 10.1007/BF02411558) and the average water contents of leaf cells (Table 2) the volumes of the vacuolar, stroma, and cytosolic compartments can be estimated (Table 2).
