P.278 right column 2nd paragraph: "Community level effects of the 2AV2 on Nodularia monocultures, and Nodularia and Synechococcus mixed cultures was analysed using data from the 22 week long microcosm experiment. In Synechococcus monocultures, the cell number decreased continuously from the beginning of the experiment, reaching lowest densities in week 9 (Table 1), after which these cultures were discontinued. Phage particle numbers in Synechococcus monocultures dropped even faster reaching undetectable levels in week 2 (Table 1). Cell numbers in Nodularia monocultures decreased continuously after phage infection, with the lowest cell densities detected on week 4 (Fig. 6A, Table 1), dropping 73% from the initial cell density. After this, Nodularia cell numbers started to increase and reached a plateau toward the end of the experiment. The number of infectious phage particles increased rapidly during the first week (Fig. 6A, Table 1), but decreased when Nodularia cell numbers declined, and the number of infectious phages remained low during the rest of the experiment (Fig. 6A, from week 4 to 22, < 6.00 × 10^6 particles/ml)." |
