Comments P.7 bottom paragraph: "The very first report of the existence of viruses targeting Ostreococcus species was in 2001, during monitoring of a picoplankton coastal bloom [ref 70]. TEM [transmission electron microscopy] analysis reveals Ostreococcus-specific viruses have similar morphology to other prasinoviruses, with capsid diameters ranging between 100–120 nm (Figure 1D–H). Assessments of the life cycle of OtV5 in culture revealed a latent period of 8 h, followed by cell lysis at 12–16 h post-inoculation [primary source]. Complete viral genomes were observed as early as two hours following inoculation. Host cell chromosomes remain intact throughout the infection cycle and are seen to decrease only as lysis occurs. TEM analysis confirmed viruses are localised to a region of the cytoplasm and do not associate with the nucleus or other organelles [primary source]."
