Comments P.332 right column bottom paragraph: "Tests were performed on at least 10 vesicles for each type of lipid to obtain values of KA (± SD) [direct elastic stretch moduli], which are listed in Table 1 [BNID 105297], along with apparent expansion moduli Kapp. Comparison of Kapp and KA demonstrates that the smoothing of thermal undulations is quite significant for highly flexible bilayers. Unlike bending elasticity, the direct-stretch moduli varied little with chain unsaturation or length, as shown by the histogram in Fig. 6." See note beneath figure
