P.952 left column top paragraph: "In contrast [to Meissner corpuscles, that are composed of flattened lamellar cells that form an ellipsoid structure perpendicular to the skin surface], the larger Pacinian corpuscles are found deep in the dermis of glabrous skin and, in some species, in hairy skin and non-cutaneous tissues including the mesentery and periosteum. Pacinian corpuscles are oval-shaped, contain layered lamellae, and reach up to 3 to 4 mm in length in adult human hands (primary sources)." |
