Oxygen evolution rate

Value 160 µMol O2/mg Chlorophyll/hour Range: ±10 µMol O2/mg Chlorophyll/hour
Organism Cyanobacteria Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942
Reference Porankiewicz, J., & Clarke, A. (1997). Induction of the heat shock protein ClpB affects cold acclimation in the cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp . Strain PCC 7942. Journal of Bacteriology, 179(16). p.5113 fig.3A Retrieved from link PubMed ID9260953
Method Chl a fluorescence parameters and oxygen evolution were measured simultaneously at 37 and 25°C with a pulse amplitude modulated fluorometer (Walz, Effeltrich, Germany) and a Clark-type oxygen electrode (Hansatech, King’s Lynn, United Kingdom), respectively.
Comments Value taken from figure 3A for the wild-type with 0 hrs of cold acclimation. Value and confidence approximated from figure. Note that the units on the Y-axis of the figure are incorrectly given as µMol O2/mg Chlorophyll/second while the text makes it clear that the units are µMol O2/mg Chlorophyll/hour. These units are much more consistent with measurements elsewhere in the literature.
