"Calculation of metabolite concentrations used in table VI-Since
the total concentration of glyceraldehyde-3-P in tissue is very
low and is similar in order of magnitude to the concentration of the
enzymes for which it is a substrate, there is considerable uncertainty
about the amount of bound and free glyceraldehyde-3-P (23). Therefore,
the concentration of free cytosolic glyceraldehyde-3-P has been
estimated using the measured dihydroxyacetone-P, which has been
shown to represent the free cytosolic concentration, and the equilibrium
constant of triose phosphate isomerase [EC 5.3.1.1.] was determined
in vitro (23)." |
