Method |
The growth rate of each strain was determined by inoculating
overnight culture in 20 mL of Davis minimal salts
medium (Davis and Mingioli 1950 Neidhardt et al. 1974)
plus 0.2% (w/v) of gluconate (potassium salt, Sigma, St. Louis,
MO) with initial Klett unit between 10 and 15. The inoculated
culture in the sidearm flask was then shaken at 37°C
and Klett unit recorded until it reached 100–150. |
