| Method |
A relative method is proposed to estimate the sensitivity
of enzymes to singlet oxygen inactivation by comparison of the initial rate of
enzymatic inactivation with the oxidation rate of L-histidine under identical
experimental conditions. |
| Comments |
SSS=surface-separated-sensitizer. Sensitox II=where substrate
oxidations are due to reactions with singlet oxygen generated by energy
transfer from the excited-state dye to ground-state oxygen. See notes beneath table |
