Method |
Nomarski differential interference contrast optics allowed researcers to view optical sections at different levels along the long axis of photoreceptors. Researchers developed software that transforms the data from locations in the whole mount back to spherical coordinates by using the fovea and optic disk as reference points and retinal vasculature to connect across cut edges. Measured in 37µm×54µm fields. |
