"Viewed parallel to the membrane, the monomer is heart-shaped with an internal cavity open on the cytoplasmic side and largest dimensions of 60 Å (along the membrane) by 60 Å (along the membrane normal). Normal to the membrane, the molecule is oval-shaped with dimensions of 30 Å by 60 Å. According to biochemical evidence (refs 10, 11), the membrane is estimated to be ~27 Å (fig.1A)" |
