Considering that a single phospholipid molecule occupies a space of approximately 65 Å^2 (0.65 nm^2) (primary source), 7000 phospholipids would build a planar bilayer of 4550 nm^2, i.e., 50% of the outer and inner surfaces of a vesicle possessing an outer diameter of 42 nm." |
