"Murein lipoprotein is a small (7,200Da) protein that exists in a large number of copies, 7?10^5 per cell. The N terminal residue, cysteine, is modified in 2 places. Its sulfhydryl group is substituted with a diglyceride, and its amino group is substituted by a fatty acyl residue. These three fatty acid groups are thought to penetrate into the inner leaflet of the outer membrane." The value is given for Escherichia coli and Salmonella thyphimurium |
