Method Researchers computed the density of charge of the entire protein. This calculation used the volume of the entire protein (Edelsbrunner et al. 1995).
Comments The charge density for the entire protein in researchers' dataset (global charge density) is on average 2.82M±0.03 (n =573), which is a small dispersion (Figure 5). The value 2.8 M was smaller than they expected considering that 25% of the side chains in proteins are charged.
