Comments "A selection of tension time courses for swelling under the three conditions is illustrated in Figure 7. the entire data set is summarized in Table 1. Before swelling, steady-state tensions in BAPTA-loaded cells and in both control conditions (untreated and DMSO-treated) were identical (Table 1), but less than 1 min after swelling began, most BAPTA-loaded neurons experienced sudden large membrane tension increases whose full extent [researchers] could not measure because the force exerted on the bead by the plasma membrane exceeded the trap limit, causing the tethered beads to escape. In controls, this was a rare occurrence."
