Alternatively, it is possible that the observation of postnatal and adult neurogenic defects in Smo-deleted brain primarily relates to the longer duration of Smo-deficiency in the V-SVZ [Ventricular–Subventricular Zone] NSC [neural stem/precursor cells] population that is, perhaps the relatively rapid time course of mouse embryonic brain development (∼10 days) is too short to reveal a defect related to Smo-deletion."
