Method Primary source [19] abstract: "Uninfected fibroblast 45- and 47-kDa proteins were phosphorylated on serine residues. Phosphatase digestions of 45- and 47-kDa proteins and pulse-chase labeling studies indicated that these proteins represented phosphorylated forms of the 43-kDa protein."
Comments P.208 right column bottom paragraph: "The initial phosphorylation of Cx43 can occur by 15 min of synthesis in cultured fibroblast cells (primary source)." Primary source p.1759 right column bottom paragraph: "Pulse-chase labeling studies of connexin43: To estimate the rapidity of serine site phosphorylation in connexin43-related proteins, uninfected vole fibroblasts were pulse-labeled with [35S]methionine for 15 min and then chased for various times in medium containing nonradioactive methionine."
