Comments P.460 left column bottom paragraph: "Most eukaryotes have a system of endosomes and lysosomes that degrade and recycle endogenous proteins or those acquired by endocytosis or phagocytosis from the extracellular space. Early endosomes internalize endocytosed proteins to allow for their subsequent return to the cell membrane or transport to late endosomes (or, alternatively, maturation of early into late endosomes) followed by transport to and degradation by the lysosomes. Both are acidic, with an endosome pH of <6 and a lysosome pH of 5."
