Based on serological cross-reactivity, genome size, and organization, the family is divided into two genera: Levivirus and Allolevivirus. Leviviruses (type species MS2), with ∼3.5-kb genomes, encode four proteins: capsid protein, maturation protein, lysis protein, and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). Notably, the lysis protein is encoded by an ORF, which overlaps at its 5′ and 3′ regions with the capsid and RdRp genes, respectively (Fig. 5)."
