Method Primary source abstract: "A checklist of the currently-known C4 species which occur in Europe was compiled, and the number of these found in European territories was ascertained. Their contribution to the local floras range from 4.35% in the Azores to 0% in Svalbard."
Comments P.133 left column bottom paragraph: "The number of terrestrial C4 species in northem Europe is small and clearly depends on the climate (primary source). From north to south the percentage of C4 (in number of species) increases from zero in northem Europe to 4.4 % in the Azores."
