Abstract: "With a minimum of assumptions, this paper deduces the free energies of hydrolysis of a variety of peptide bonds." |
Comments |
P.352 right column bottom paragraph: "For the peptides in Table I there are but two experimental values for the overall free energy change: ΔGh, -3.6 kcal/mole for glycylglycine hydrolysis [ref 5], and -0.4 kcal/mole for N-benzoyltyrosine–glycinamide hydrolysis [ref 4]. These entries appear at the top and bottom of the last column in Table I. For these two peptides Eq. (1) yields for ΔGm [the free energy of hydrolysis of the amide bond to uncharged products] values of 6.3 and 5.3 kcal/mole at the top and bottom of the fourth column of Table I."
