Comments P.124 3rd paragraph: "Among annual species ephemerals have a significantly lower (P < 0.001) mean nuclear DNA content than non-ephemeral species. The mean nuclear DNA content for 103 annual species is 21.0 pg while it is only 4.6 pg for five ephemeral species (table 5). The maximum nuclear DNA content for an ephemeral annual species is less than half of the mean nuclear DNA content for all annual species. Although the group of ephemeral species is small it comprises monocotyledons and dicotyledons, and diploid and polyploid examples, yet they all have very small nuclear DNA contents."
