Comments Supplementary material p.1 left column 2nd paragraph:"Published measures of ATP requirements are generally expressed per unit dry weight, and for purposes here had to be converted to a per-cell basis. This required knowledge of the dry weight per cell. In a number of cases, the necessary conversions, sometimes using cell volume estimates, relied on data from multiple sources, as noted in Supplemental Table 1." Supplementary Materials p.2 right column bottom paragraph:"Taking the amino-acid composition into consideration, the total cost per nucleosome (the sum of terms within the brackets in the preceding expression) falls in a fairly narrow range of 27,600 to 31,000 ATP across a range of eukaryotic species (Supplementary Table 1), averaging to 29,025, with no obvious phylogenetic pattern."
